Me: Love is Patient.
God: It is never in a hurry. It takes it’s time. It’s main concern is my purpose and my time. It centers itself in me, and is content to serve me while it is “waiting.” It is revealed at the perfect time. It lets me prepare hearts. It knows that nothing is never too early, too late but right on time.
Me: Love is Kind.
God: It looks out for another wanting what is best. It cares deeply. It serves another from the heart. It is unconditional. It is the deepest thing in all reality.
Me: It does not envy. Man, this is a tricky one. Isn’t jealousy a part of your nature? You want our undivided love and devotion. You want us to choose you, if we do not it hurts, it grieves your heart. I guess this is how true love is. It is a choice you gave us. You want us to choose you since you chose us, but you will never force us.
God: True, it does not envy. It does not covet. It is content and satisfied as it puts me first. Love is such a strong connection, it makes those involved in the relationship vulnerable to hurt. When someone does something unloving to another, or chooses another, the initial response is to be jealous. You want to be loved as do I, it is part of my heart for the world. In a relationship, where you share life with someone, if that person chooses another over you, then, yeah, jealousy is what you feel. Love does not envy, meaning want something so bad they are willing to go at all costs to take it away. Be careful that that jealousy does not make you bitter and resentful which leads to other things.
Me: It does not boast. This one seems kind of self explanatory.
God: It remembers to keep me first. I am the one who allowed the love to happen in the first place. Those involved in the relationship need to keep it that way always giving thanks for the gift I gave them.
Me: You always make so much sense. It keeps no record of wrongs. It is about forgiving, no it is hard for me to forget, but if I keep forgiving, I will eventually forget and remember no more, as you do. That comes so natural for you, I am so jealous
~ I wish I was more like you.
God:
~ Now you are beginning to see my heart, child. Forgiveness is a golden thread when you love someone; things happen and one or the other of you will do something the other does not like. If you truly love each other you will forgive each other as I do and remember the offense no more.
Me: Seems easier said than done, when I factor in the humanness.
God: Oh, but it can be done, just trust me.
Me: It always hopes.
God: It always seeks me first above the other in a relationship. It knows the best is in store and always looks out for the interests of the other person. Love is not afraid to listen to wisdom in all things.
Me: It always protects.
God: When you are in a relationship with someone, you guard each other. You look out for one another. You do not want to see that person get hurt. It pains you when they do. You protect the others’ heart. Again, you have each others’ best interests at heart.
Me: It always perseveres.
God: The best relationships have had to endure trials of many kinds. They do so clinging to me and each other. Some of these trials include separation for a time or situations with close family and friends on either side. Life happens to all of us. If two people truly love each other, they will go through it together with me and come out stronger in the end. Love always perseveres. Like anything, love becomes easier the more we practice loving. It is the backbone that holds a relationship together in the midst of whatever trials arise.
Me: Love never fails.
God: There are three that remain, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love. Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend. I am love, whoever lives in me, lives in love. I love you child, remain in my love.
Me: Help me to love like you. How precious a relationship I have with you, and how much I have to look forward to with that special person you will bring into my life. Give me the patience that love has to wait for your good and perfect timing. Keep preparing me as you are preparing him. Thank you for this season of my life to love and serve you with wholehearted devotion. I love you, Amen!!!
God: You are my beautiful, beautiful child, I love you more than you know!!!
