My Hope is Built on Nothing Less (Hymn by Edward Mote)

Posted in Reflections on Hymns on July 10, 2007 by schoolgirl777

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteous;
No merit of my own I claim
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils his lovely face,
I ret on his unchanging grace;
In every high and story gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, his covenant, his blood
Sustain me in the raging flood;
When all supports are washed away,
He then is all my hope and stay.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When he shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in him be found,
Clothed in his righteousness alone,
Redeemed to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundations on the rock (Matthew 7:24-25).”

 LORD Jesus, my hope is in you. You are my strong tower, my solid foundation, in you I place my trust.  You do all things well. Forgive me for those times today I have not lived like today would be my last day, for those times when I get anxious and worried for no reason at all. It is these times that I am not placing all my hope in you who has done so much for me. I want to live every moment with you like it could be my last day to give all I have before its to late. Good bye to all the fear and doubt cause your love is what life’s about. Give me the confidence and wisdom to live my life to the fullest and enjoy the abundance of all I have been blessed. I love you. Amen!!!

In Christ Alone!!!

In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm.  What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease.  My Comforter, my All in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly thing.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:1-4).”

In Christ alone, who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe!  This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save.  Till on the cross, as Jesus dies, the wrath of God was satisfied.  For every sin on Him was laid; here in the death of Christ I live.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing (Galatians 2:20-21).”

There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world, by darkness slain; Then, bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory, sin’s curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ.

 ”My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand (John 10:27-28).”

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me;  From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.  No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand;  Till He returns and calls me home, her in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

“For I am convinced, that neither death, nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present, nor the future, nor any powers, neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our LORD (Romans 8:38-39).”

In Christ Alone.

He has redeemed me, He has call me by name, I am His and He is mine in Christ Alone.

It is through Christ alone that we can come to the Father who has loved us and chosen us before the foundation of the world to be Holy and without blame before Him in love.
In Christ Alone.  I love the sweetness of these words written so long ago, but that still ring so true.

HE IS ABLE; TRUST HIM!!!

He is able, more than able to accomplish what concerns me today

He is able, more than able to handle anything that comes my way

He is able, more than able to do much more than I could ever dream

He is able, more than able to make me what He wants me to be

Guard my Wandering Heart LORD!!!

“O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be; let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander-LORD, I feel it-prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.”

“Above all else, GUARD YOUR HEART for it is the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:23).” And…

“…TAKE CAPTIVE EVERY THOUGHT to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).”

LORD, So often my heart drifts into fantasy world and I tend to like it a little too much. When this happens bring me back to the reality of day by day living and give me an undivided heart for you. You know me through and through. Help me to think of others the way you would have me think of them. Teach me, O LORD; Show me the depths of who you are. I Love you my Savior and my King who has endowed me with Splendor and is Captivated by my very form. Amen!

Be Still, My Soul….

Posted in Reflections on Hymns on August 15, 2006 by schoolgirl777

“Be Still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;

bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;

leave to thy God to order and provide;

in every change, he faithful will remain.

Be Still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly Friend

through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.”

With all the unnecessary pressure I place on myself to be successful, to be the best I can be, God is always right there saying, “Be Still and Know that I am God.” So often I choose not to listen and let the worries and concerns of this world consume my heart and mind. So often I stray from His simple beckoning. He longs for me to be still, to come as I am and rest in Him. He will help me. He will show me my next step. I do not need to force unnecessary pressure on myself to be successful. I need to follow His lead and do the next thing He prepares me to do. Only….

“Be Still and Know that I am God, I will be Exalted among the Heavens, I will be Exalted among the Earth (Psalm 46:10).”

It is there in this stillness that He leads me, so gently, so patiently into what He wants for me.

Thank you my LORD and my God for your Indescribable Gift!
